About
Born in Miami and raised in Atlanta, John Powers Wheeler now lives with his wife in the backwater hamlet of Manhattan, New York. When he’s not practicing law (i.e., generally between 5 and 7 am and 12 and 2 am), he writes sci-fi and fantasy novels. His debut, Harvest of Spears, is forthcoming from Dark Matter INK on November 17th.
Wheeler spends his ever-dwindling free time hiking, bouldering, and playing guitar just softly enough not to disturb his neighbors. He spent his youth practicing a variety of martial arts, primarily Soo Bahk Do, but ceased doing so as an adult due to an inescapable lack of skill. He loves cats but is unworthy of them.
He is capable of climbing the 14-foot “warped wall” at American Ninja Warrior gyms but usually chickens out. He suffered a herniated disk in his mid-20s but has fully recovered. Any day in which he encounters a turtle is a good day.
